Revelry: February is Party Time!

My birthday is February 10th, so I like to do something to celebrate in my Etsy shop by offering some kind of special deal or discount.  But this year, I have an even better idea.  Let’s have a party!

I’ve been a consultant for Pampered Chef and Stampin’ Up! in my somewhat distant past, so I have some experience doing the “home party” type of thing: someone hosts the party, I come in and demonstrate my products, the guests buy, and the host gets rewarded based on those sales.  I’ve thought about doing something like this for Rewondered, bringing samples and inventory to someone’s home and basically doing a mini-craft fair for their friends.  I’m still interested in that (and if you want to host something like that, let me know) but this is going to be an online party.

Here’s how it works:

  1. If you want to be a host, email rewondered@gmail.com
  2. I will send you a personalized coupon code.  This coupon code is good for 10% off anything in my Etsy shop and expires when I get up to turn it off on March 1st.
  3. You can use the code yourself and pass it along to your friends so they can also get 10% off.  Remind them they need to use the code in order to get their discount and for you to get credit for their purchase, and they need to make their purchases in February.  The code can be used as many times as you and they want.
  4. On March 1st, I will tally up all the sales made using each coupon code (using the amount after the code is applied), then send the host a gift certificate for 10% of that total.  For example, if $100 of products were purchased using the code, the amount after the code is applied would be $90, so the host would receive a gift certificate for $9.  And yes, this works for ALL purchases using your code, even your own!

I’ll be adding new products throughout February, so if you see something you think a friend of yours would like, send them a link and include your code.  Share your code on social media and via email.  Put your code and the link to my Etsy shop on Post-It notes and stick them everywhere.  😛  However you want to promote your party is up to you.

You can sign up to host anytime between now and the end of February, but the earlier you do, the longer you have to collect orders.  Due to limits on the number of coupon codes Etsy allows me to have and my own sanity (don’t laugh, I think I have a few shreds left!) I can only allow the first 50 people who sign up to host.  So what are you waiting for?  Email me now! 😀

Oh, and if you don’t want to host and don’t know anyone who is hosting, but want that 10% off, just use the code FEBRUARY10

Tuesday Top Ten: Favorited Items December 11th-17th

Time for the Top Ten items that were favorited in my Etsy shop over the past week.  Except there’s one little problem… 19 of my items were each favorited once, so this is more of a Top Nineteen list!  In fact, it will probably just be easier for me not to number them, and just post the pictures, which you can click on to go to the listing for more information.

Today is the last day to place your order to ensure delivery before Christmas, and I am no longer able to guarantee custom orders will arrive in time.  However, I am happy to make a .pdf card that you can print out to give your gift recipient which will explain what gift is on the way.

And of course, there are always gift certificates, though I recommend you make a contribution to my IndieGoGo campaign so you can get the free item as well.

So there’s still hope for you last minute shoppers! Check out these items that other people liked last week and see if any would be good for your gift recipients…

Quite the eclectic mix there, huh?  And I need to redo the photos for the last two (and several other listings) but I had wanted to get the items up so I used what photos I had.  That’s another project to add to my Massive To Do List™!

I’m going to be working on adding more items up today too, so keep an eye on my Etsy shop throughout the day.  Oh, and “Order by December 18th” really means order by the time I get up on the 19th to process those orders and get them in the mail.  So you really have until about 7am eastern time on the 19th. 😛

Monday Musings: Rebooting

Craft Fair Season is finally over and I can finally get back to concentrating on my online business.  I’ve learned a lot about craft fairs though, and will continue to do them in the future, applying what I’ve learned.  But that’s for another post, today is about rebooting my business and my brain for “online” versus “in person” sales.

First on my agenda is processing the orders I received last week and getting them out in the mail today.  Interestingly enough, I have had more sales in my Etsy shop in the first nine days of December than I did at all five craft fairs combined.  So I have several orders that need to go out.  I keep most of my items in “kits” and don’t actually put them together until I make a sale.  This allows me to spend more time creating new products, rather than making a bunch of one thing that is going to sit around gathering dust until someone buys it.  So that’s why my products generally take 1-5 business days to be shipped out.

Next, I need to reorganize my inventory and get photographs taken so I can get more items listed in my Etsy shop.  This includes items for my Five X Fifty posts.  You’ll be seeing several of those this week, as I hope to get at least 2 or 3 posted each day.  I’m also going to start a “Tuesday Top Ten” weekly post featuring the ten items most favorited in my shop over the previous week.  I’ll kick that off tomorrow with my Top Ten all time most favorited items.  Any guesses which ones those are?  What are your favorites?  Feel free to post a link to them in the comments. 🙂

I also have several custom orders to work on, and I’m talking to a few other people about their ideas, so I’ll be making myself available on IMs later this evening.  I plan to have those that I’ve already received payment for out by the end of the week.  There’s still plenty of room in my schedule to get more custom orders out before Christmas, so let me know what you have in mind!

Speaking of Christmas, I posted an FAQ about holiday shopping on my Facebook page last night.  I will copy it here, in case you missed it there:

  1. Most items in my Etsy shop can be ordered through the 18th.
  2. All orders will ship by the 20th, the date USPS gives as the last date for Christmas delivery of First Class Mail. If you want an upgrade to Priority Mail, I can ship that way through the 21st, but an additional fee will apply so please contact me to arrange payment.
  3. Custom orders should be finalized by the 15th. Remember, I cannot start work on a custom order until payment is received and I’ll need time to gather any supplies I don’t already have on hand, plus have time to actually make everything. If your custom order idea is particularly large or complicated, please contact me with details ASAP so I can let you know if a Christmas delivery date is possible.
  4. If a Christmas delivery date is not possible, but you still want to give my items as a gift, I will make a card to give your gift recipient, letting them know what is being made and when to expect it.
  5. Items can be shipped directly to your gift recipient, and I will gift wrap for no additional charge if you let me know it’s a gift.
  6. I will be putting more items up this week. If you have any suggestions or requests for particular types of items or themes, please leave them in the comments here and I’ll see what I can do! I have tons of charms that can be made into Simple Charm Necklaces or Earrings, so if you are looking for a gift for someone who likes ask me if I have any related charms.
  7. I recommend going to http://www.indiegogo.com/rewondered2 first and making a contribution there, as you’ll be able to choose one item for free and get a gift certificate for the amount of your contribution. There are extra steps involved than just ordering from my Etsy shop directly, but you’ll get more for your money! Information about redeeming your rewards is here: https://rewondered.wordpress.com/2012/11/16/regarding-rewondered-redoubled-rewards
  8. If you haven’t yet received your gift certificate from your IndieGoGo contribution, just choose “other” for payment method when you place your order on Etsy and leave a note in the comments section. I’ll verify your contribution and send you an invoice for any balance due.
  9. I will be on vacation from December 22nd through 25th.
  10. If you have any other questions, please email me at rewondered@gmail.com or post a comment here or on my Facebook page.

Speaking of Facebook, Intuit is running a “Small Business, Big Wishes” promotion where I could win $5000 to expand my business, and I’d really appreciate a vote for me, as they look at the ones with the most votes to decide who will win.

So that’s my Massive To Do List™ for this week: concentrate on getting more items up in my Etsy shop and putting together orders for the holidays.  And avoid catching the plague that my housemate has… there will be lots of orange juice, tea, and vitamins imbibed this week!  I’m going to be a very busy girl, and I don’t have time to get sick.  You hear that germs?  Back! Back, I say!!  😛

And speaking of back, back to work for me!  Stay tuned for more Five X Fifty posts later today!

Five By Five: Post Back Earrings – Day 2 of 50 New Products In 50 Days

It’s Day 2 of my 50 New Products in 50 Days for ReBloPoMo+ and today’s item is Post Back Earrings.

As a Punk/Rock Fairy Princess, I have an affinity for anything with skulls, and silver is one of my favorite colors (but you might have figured that out based on the colors I chose for my business), so when I found these skull charms, I had to get them and make them into some awesome chunky post back earrings.

Yay!  Day 2 complete, and well before the 5pm deadline!  Now if I can just get all the other stuff done that I need to do to get ready for the craft fair tomorrow.  If you’re anywhere near Weare, New Hampshire and looking for some fun holiday gifts, come check out Rewondered at the John Stark Regional High School 5th Annual Arts and Crafts Market.

In other news, I’m up to $100 in contributions for my IndieGoGo campaign!  That means I’m eligible for the drawing IndieGoGo will be doing, and I could be one of five lucky campaigns to get $500 in matching funds.  Cross your fingers for me!  And don’t forget to go make your own contribution.  I’ll be sending out gift certificates to those who have contributed starting on Monday, but if you’re going to come to Weare, let me know and I’ll have it ready for you to spend at the show if you want.  If you see something in my Etsy shop that you want to claim for your free item, let me know and I’ll set it aside for you.

Also, the items for the Real World Hero auction are up!  I donated two items this year: a custom straitjacket hoodie and a custom t-shirt.  You can go over to http://www.realworldhero.com to bid, but I’ll share a few pics here too.

The Straitjacket Hoodie is black with comic book style captions like “Super!” and “Pow!!”

The t-shirt is an example of my new line of Wondiosyncra-Tees: upcycled t-shirts celebrating your wonderful characteristics.  These are made from the letters off old t-shirts and patched together to form descriptive words, and I am happy to do custom orders with any word up to 10 letters.  Look for more of these in an upcoming Five By Five.  For the Real World Hero auction, I decided to make on that says “HERO” on it.

Okay, time for me to get back to work.  Tomorrow’s Five By Five will feature Pins, but may be either very early or very late, since I’ll be preoccupied with the craft fair from at least 6am (getting ready) to 4pm (it ends at 2pm but then I have to pack up, get home, unload my car, have a drink…) or later.  I’m hoping to get it set up tonight but you might just end up getting two posts on Sunday!

Reorganization

Sorry folks, I’m caught up in reorganizing my studio and just didn’t have time to list the new rainbow products and finish up my colorful Five By Fives today.  You’ll just have to wait until Tuesday, when I’ll have a chance to do so.

I’ve decided to extend the  Christmas in July Sale in my Etsy shop through Tuesday, which means the coupon code will get turned off sometime Wednesday morning when I get up and start processing any orders before I get ready to leave for Ohio.  Orders placed after Tuesday, July 24th, won’t be shipped until August 1st, after I get back.  So if you’re thinking about ordering, please do so by Tuesday and use the coupon code RCIJ25 to get 25% off your order.

Remember, this code works on gift certificates too, so if you think you might want to buy something later (I still have TONS of stuff to put up) grab a gift certificate at a discounted price now!  I have $5, $25, and $100 gift certificates available, so they’d  actually cost you $3.75, $18.75, and $75, respectively.  And of course, you’ll have the full face value of the gift certificate to redeem any time you want, since they never expire.

Admittedly, I’m a little desperate for cash right now, and any orders are greatly appreciated! 🙂  So seriously, take advantage of the discount to get a gift certificate if you don’t see anything else you want, because there is definitely more coming once I get back from Ohio!

I’m taking this weekend off to spend time with Lorne and our friends, and Monday I’ll be buried in a paper for my marketing class, so it will be Tuesday before I can add any new products for you.  For now, check out the rainbow products I currently have listed in my Etsy shop:

I better get back to reorganizing my studio, since I only have about two hours to get it done!  Well, mostly done.  I know I still need some things from Ohio to get it completely organized, but this is a pretty good start.  I’ll have pictures for you when it’s all done in August. 🙂

Thanks so much, and see you Tuesday!

Yellow, Is It Five By Five You’re Looking For?

Then you’ve found it!  Special thanks to Katie from Wild Birds Unlimited for her help with today’s title. 🙂

Also, thanks to everyone who voted for my Embrace Your Geekness Marvel Comics Straitjacket Hoodie in yesterday’s Etsy Contest.  I ended up in 11th place!  Not bad for my first time!  Hopefully I’ll be included in more future contests.  I have to wait three days before I’m eligible again, but I’ll keep you posted if another of my items gets picked.

I’ve had today’s yellow items up in my Etsy shop for a couple of hours already, but I got distracted by Facebook.  One of my friends posted an out of context quote from a speech made by President Obama, “You didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen,” with the response “Dear Mr. President, We DID build our businesses on our own.  Thanks for the support.  Sincerely, Small Business Owners.”  Now, I didn’t know the context of the quote, but the response is SO VERY WRONG!  Here’s what I said on my personal Facebook:

As a small business owner myself, I have to disagree with this statement. Yes, I’ve worked my ass off to get my business going but without customers, I wouldn’t have a business at all. No one gets anywhere on their own, someone helped, whether it was buying your product or service or other financial support, moral support and cheering you on reminding you that you can do it, or even telling you there’s no way it’s going to happen and you set out to prove them wrong. We have people who gave birth to us, people who raised us, people who taught us, people who led by example whether good or bad. We have people who gave us a hand or kicked us while we were down, reinforcing our will to make this happen. I can build all I want, post my products all over the internet, but unless someone buys, I don’t have a business. Someone else has to make that happen for me.

Turns out, the President was talking about roads and bridges and the infrastructure that society has built to make our economy and commerce possible.  But as another of my friends commented, “If you think you can do it completely on your own, you are welcome to go to the moon and prove it.”

Anyway, I don’t want to get into a political debate, but I do want to take a moment to thank each and every one of the people who have made this all possible for me.  It would take me all week to list each name, so this is just going to have to be a big collective THANK YOU!!! 🙂

Now, without further ado, let me present the yellow items!

Of course, we have to start things off with the Yellow Basically Beaded Faceted Bead Necklace in the set of seven:

Next, a big mushroom!

Yellow gives us a bit of an outdoors/garden/springtime theme, it seems.  So how about a daisy?

The daisy is also available as a simple charm necklace.  Similar to this, I have another with a different shade of yellow beads and an adorable yellow and red snail:

Using a different bead cap changes the whole look of the design, doesn’t it?  The snail is also available as a simple charm necklace.

And finally, let’s have some bees to go with our flower and snail.

Thank you for taking the time to check out my new products.  Thank you for taking the time to read this blog.  Thank you so much for your support and for HELPING ME BUILD MY BUSINESS.  I can’t do it without you! 🙂

Stay tuned tomorrow for the green products I’ll be posting!

P.S.  While I was posting that little “rant” on Facebook, I sold two necklaces in my Etsy Shop. 😀

Five By Five Representing Christmas In July

Or maybe that should be Pre-presenting… whether you’re getting some early holiday shopping done or just buying yourself a present, Christmas In July sales are pretty awesome.  Many Etsy sellers are having their own Christmas In July celebration July 12-22, and I definitely want in on the fun.  So I’m offering 25% off your purchase when you use the coupon code RCIJ25 in my Etsy shop.  Please note this code only works for my shop, other Etsy sellers will have their own codes for their shops.  The code is good on any item in my shop, including custom orders and even gift certificates!

I’m going to be posting at least five new items every day during this promotion, so I thought this was a perfect time to kick off my Five By Five posts.  And of course, I had to do a Christmas theme!  Click on the pictures to go to the Etsy listing for more information.

And you get one more bonus listing, because I was thinking, Christmas and the holiday brouhaha tends to drive people a little crazy, right?  Sounds like the perfect occasion to wear a Straitjacket Hoodie to me!  And then I found this fabric:

Christmas Drives Me Crazy Straitjacket Hoodie - Made to Order - Christmas In July

Christmas Drives Me Crazy Straitjacket Hoodie – Made to Order – Christmas In July

Click on the pic to order your own custom made Christmas Drives Me Crazy Straitjacket Hoodie!  I only bought enough fabric to make one, and it was on clearance so I can’t guarantee I can get more.  Just imagine your family’s reaction when you wear it to your holiday celebration!  I’m disappointed I live too far away from my family to spend the holidays with them, or I’d make one for myself!

I also put up a photo album on my Facebook page with all the fabric I currently have in stock and available to make Straitjacket Hoodies, so go there and see if any of them strike your fancy.  I’m working on the ones that were claimed as perks in my IndieGoGo campaign, and finally have all the materials I need to make them.  Plus I’m trying to get my backlog of products up in my Etsy shop, finish my homework, clean my studio, and take care of wedding stuff.  No rest for the wicked, they say, and sometimes I think I must be really bad!  😛

The Final Countdown – 9…

Nine days left in my IndieGoGo campaign!  Below is an awesome mashup of Europe’s “The Final Countdown” and Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” created by Wax Audio.  I have Lorne to thank for this.  He played it on his show on The Cape Radio last Tuesday.  It’s on their latest album, Mashopolus III: Mashups for the People, which you can get here.

Nine days left, and I’m still not showing up anywhere on the IndieGoGo site.  My stats do keep going up though, so thank you for your help and please, keep it up!  If you haven’t read Day 10 yet, there are instructions there on ways you can help increase my stats and spread the word of my campaign.

Right now, nine stands for 90’s, as in the temperature outside.  We hit a high of 95 yesterday and today’s forecast is for 94, according to weather.com.  I managed to work in my studio a bit yesterday morning before the heat drove me to the only air-conditioned room in the house, leaving a half-finished project still on my sewing machine.  I really want to finish it, because it’s awesome and I want to show it to you, but I just can’t be in my studio right now.  Just moving my laptop and a few projects to work on into the now air-conditioned bedroom (thanks to our roommate for helping us install the window air-conditioning unit!) had me headachy and feeling like I might pass out.  So the sewing machine stays were it is.  I’m not leaving this room unless I have to!

Unfortunately that means I might not be able to get any new products up for another day or two.  I have a few finished, but I still need pictures, and the areas I have set up to take pictures are in other rooms, plus the computer I use to get the pictures off my camera is in the studio.  I apparently left my card reader adapter in Ohio, and that’s the only computer I have that has one built in for that type of card.

Speaking of Ohio, I desperately need to take a trip out there and get more of my supplies.  While this is listed as Phase 2 of my campaign, with a goal of $1000, I will be modifying my plans based on what contributions I do receive, splitting it between the first two phases as best I can.  I’m planning to head out there July 5th, which is a huge stretch to my budget, so I’m really hoping for a few more contributions to help offset the cost of gas.

I’m going to spend most of today taking stock and updating my inventory on Etsy.  Don’t forget you can use the code LGBTPRIDE to get 20% off in my Etsy store, plus you can now pay with a credit or debit card instead of PayPal!  I’m also trying to decide if I want to keep my online store or not, as the monthly fees are really cutting into my budget.  I’m thinking of expanding the offerings there to include crafting supplies and used items, and just having a $5 flat rate shipping per order.  I have a ton of stickers and other scrapbooking supplies, used clothing and accessories that I haven’t rewondered yet, and other items that I can’t sell on Etsy, so the store would be good place to list them instead.  I’m also looking into other avenues of online selling.  I’ve had some luck with eBay, but the fees are atrocious.  Where do you shop for used items, handmade clothing and jewelry, and craft supplies?
