Five X Fifty: Day 11 – Hockey

If you follow my personal Facebook status updates, you know that the craft fair I was at over the weekend was a disaster.  Badly organized, misrepresented, unadvertised… it was horrible.  And to top it off, two of my rings were stolen.  I am not a happy camper and am still simmering, so I’m going to just move along with the Five X Fifty posts before I go off on a rant.

Because we were told that they expected over 5000 people at this craft fair held during a hockey tournament, I stocked up on hockey stick and ice skate charms.  But I only sold a few, so I have plenty left to offer up in my Etsy shop.  So today’s Five X Fifty features earrings, necklaces, and wine charms with a hockey theme.

Let’s start with the wine charms, as even thinking about that craft fair makes me want some wine.  Oh wait, I wasn’t going to rant, was I?  So yes, back to the wine charms!  I can make these in any team colors, but because I live near Boston, I used the ones of the Boston Bruins for the samples.

The skates were the most popular, and I had one hockey mom come back the next day and show me that she was wearing the earrings I made for her and tell me how much she loved them.  That’s one plus from the event, I made at least a few people happy!

Two more craft fairs to go, and these should be a lot better.  One has been going on for over 20 years, and the other is at my housemate’s work, so she can advise me of what is most likely to sell there.  Got my fingers crossed, I really need to get some sales!

I also really need to get more contributions to my IndieGoGo campaign.  I am planning to put together a new video and update the entire thing, as I have been accepted as a merchant for Birka, and I need the supplies to launch my line of Practically Period jewelry, garb, and accessories.  As mentioned there, here are a few of my ideas:

  • Period “Replica” Jewelry – Designs based on portraits and artwork from the Middle Ages and Renaissance.
  • Basic garb – T-tunics, chemises, simple dresses, etc.
  • “Upcycled” garb – Modern clothing “rewondered” to look more period.
  • Garb “Accessories” – Sleeves that tie on, aprons, tabards, headdresses, hats, belts and sashes, pouches, corsets, etc.

I’ll still be working on my Five X Fifty posts, but the majority of my time after craft fair season is over will be spent stocking up for Birka.  If you’re planning to go, and contribute to my IndieGoGo campaign, you can pick your free item and spend your gift certificate there!  If you can’t go, have no idea what the SCA is, and just want to make a contribution to help ease the nightmare that was last weekend’s craft fair, that’s greatly appreciated too! 😀

I’ll have another Five X Fifty post for you later today, but I have a few errands I need to run and have to actually get out of my pajamas at some point, so I better go take care of that first…

Five X Fifty: Wondiosyncra-Tees

You’ve already had a preview of this item, since I donated one to the Real World Hero charity auction (and you’ll see that one again below).  I call these “Wondiosyncra-Tees: Upcycled T-shirts celebrating the characteristics that make you wonderful.”  You choose the word or phrase (ten letters or less) that best describes you, and I cut those letters out of old t-shirts and create a frankentee with a ransom letter style.  I think they’re a lot of fun!

This is another custom made item, so all the links go to one listing in my Etsy shop.  But of course I have five examples for you, two of which someone can snap up as is instead of waiting for a custom made one.  First come, first served, though I can always create another one with the same word or phrase.  It will just look different, since no two of these shirts will ever be alike.

But first, the three you can’t have. 😛

I made one of these for myself to wear to craft fairs and events, so of course it says “Rewondered” on it.  I’m usually wearing a hoodie over it though, so you can only actually see the “wonder” part. 😛

I made one for my husband to wear to the shows he helps me with, too.  His nickname is “Random” and this style is perfect with it’s mish-mash of letters and colors.

And of course, there’s the one I made for the Real World Hero charity auction, which says “Hero” on it. Congratulations to the winner! I mailed it out this morning. 🙂

I wanted to add another color into the mix, so I made up this “Red Hot” one. It’s a size XL, and available to the first person who orders and claims it!

And finally, you know I had to make a “Geeky” one! This one is a 2XL, and also available to the first person who orders and claims it.

I meant to have more items up today, but I decided that the contributions I’ve received to my IndieGoGo campaign so far should be put to good use and I should take advantage of the really awesome sale that JoAnn Fabrics was having today. I picked up a ton of stuff on clearance, too! I was showing my husband my “loot” and telling him the ideas I was going to make with my purchases, and he mostly just smiled indulgently at me and nodded, with an occasional “ooh nifty!” I have him well-trained! 😛

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to take advantage of any Black Friday or weekend sales, since I’ll be at the Cornucopia Craft Fair selling my own stuff.  Though if sales/contributions and time allows, I may try and sneak in on Saturday and get the Dritz Dressform that will be on sale for $99.99, which would be immensely helpful for creating custom clothing.  We shall see.

For now, I am going to continue to be in MAKE ALL THE THINGS mode until Thanksgiving, and I’m seriously contemplating not taking the holiday off and spending it sewing instead.  I know, I know, all work and no play and all that.  But I’m 3000 miles away from my family, and my husband’s family is 1500 miles away.  We’ve been invited to dinner with our housemate’s family, but being away from my studio all day, knowing I have to be up at 5 or 6am the next day for a 3-day show that anticipates 5000 people coming through… eep!  Again, we shall see.  I suppose it really depends on what all I get done by Wednesday.  So I better get back to it, methinks! 🙂

Report: Craft Fair #2

Yesterday I was at the Lin-Wood Friends of Recreation Holiday Craft Fair in Lincoln, NH.  This was my first venture farther north of Concord, and I have to agree with the reports I’ve heard about the beauty of the White Mountains area.  Several times we came around a corner or over a rise and said “Ooh, look at that!”  I am very grateful that it was a beautiful, sunny day, and what clouds we saw weren’t angry enough to pelt us with rain or snow.

We’re getting the set-up and tear-down of the booth down to a science.  It’s kind of amazing what can fit into my car, and the guy who offered to help us unload commented on my excellent use of available space.  After we got everything inside, Lorne wandered off to help others, telling them that it was better not to be underfoot of his wife while she was setting things up.  😛

I had a 10 foot by 10 foot space this time, so I did a sort of U-shaped display.  I managed to leave half my upcycled bags at home, so my hanging display was a little bit more sparse than last time.  Oops.  Again, I got lots of positive comments on these, and even sold one!

Choose a Charm Made While You Wait Jewelry by Rewondered

The above picture shows my “make while you wait” display that I didn’t have ready for the last show, and is probably the biggest difference between the dismal sales there and the much better sales at this show.  Of the twelve items I sold, eight of them were made on the spot.  Of course, six of those were bracelet charms that two little girls kept coming back to get more of.  The other two were pairs of earrings using little mustache charms.  I should probably get those listed on Etsy, methinks.

Here’s a pic you can enlarge to see more of the charms I have available.  And this isn’t even all of them, just what I could fit in the display rack!

On a humorous note, I am greatly amused that this has happened at both fairs: a guy is buying something for his kid, obviously planning it to be a Christmas gift, as he tells me “I can’t be seen buying this.”  The whole transaction is very furtive and he runs off with the item hidden in his coat.  I wonder if this will happen at every craft fair?  I kind of hope so, because it just makes me giggle!

All in all, when you factor in the gas necessary for a three-hour round trip drive, I probably about broke even on this craft fair.  The woman in the space next to me said that attendance and sales at all the craft fairs she’s done this year had been down compared to what she’s seen in the five previous years.  A rather disheartening piece of news, but at least I know it’s not just me.

My next craft fair is a three-day one, at an ice rink during a hockey tournament, so I’m working on some ideas for “hockey moms” and hockey fans.  Let me know if you have any ideas you think I should try!  Lorne says I should make puck bunnies, but somehow I don’t think that’s appropriate.  I am considering making up some bunny ears, though.

Anyway, it’s time for me to get back to work.  No rest for the wicked, as they say, and I am definitely on Santa’s naughty list this year! 😛

Five X Fifty: Day 3 – Pins

I know, I know, I am woefully behind on my daily new products.  Take the brain-deadness after the craft fair last Saturday, add in issues getting any kind of a clear picture of my products, and then the rather sudden onset of winter and the cold chasing me from my freezing studio, and here we are with nearly a week since my last new product post.  Sigh.

But I’ve still been making things!  And I have the pictures for days three, four and five done, so it’s just a matter of getting the listings up on Etsy and making the posts here.  Days six and seven are awaiting their chance in front of the camera, and day eight (which should be today) is sitting by the sewing machine, upset with me that I ran off to run errands this morning rather than finish it.  Or I have a couple other ideas that I might be able to finish up by tomorrow for days eight, nine, and maybe even ten and eleven.  I have no shortage of ideas, but that pesky time thing keeps getting away from me!

So anyway, without further ado, let me get to Day 3, and the new Pins I have made and listed on Etsy.  I actually have six pins I just listed, so you get a bonus one!

I decided to go ahead and put up the backlog of the Halloween themed pins I had, because Halloween should totally be celebrated year around, and these spider and bat pins are just too adorable!

Yay!  I love Halloween.  But alas, as much as it pains me to do so before Thanksgiving is over, I must start thinking about Christmas.  These little snow-covered birdhouse pins are kind of Christmasy…

And last but certainly not least, my favorite, this Silver Master Key… wish I could get more of these charms to make more of these pins, but six is all I have.

I have a bunch more pins available at the craft fairs (and of the two items I sold at the last one, one was a pin).  I’ve been working on a few “make as you wait” items and some display items for custom orders, so hopefully those will help me get a few more sales at the next fair.  I think I also need to talk up my IndieGoGo campaign a bit more.  My gogofactor was up this week, and I thank all of you who have helped to spread the word, and ask that you keep sharing it with as many people as you can.  I’ve moved up to page three of the Fashion campaigns, that’s pretty cool!

Also, don’t forget that the Real World Hero auction ends this Saturday, November 10th, so get over there and bid on the Comic Captions Straitjacket Hoodie and HERO T-shirt that I made especially for Real World Hero!

I’ll keep working on the backlog of new product listings and posts, but it will probably be next week before I get caught up.  You can see a sneak preview though by checking out the Gallery on my IndieGoGo campaign. 🙂

Monday Musings: When Several Days Hit You At Once

You know that saying, “I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days hit me at once.”  This weekend was very much like that.  I’ve been burning the candle at both ends trying to get ready for craft fair season, and didn’t sleep at all Friday night as I frantically made sure everything was packaged and priced and ready to go.  I laid down for about an hour and a half, but I don’t think I got more than 20-30 minutes of sleep.  Needless to say, I was pretty exhausted.

Earlier last week, Lorne and I had a conversation that went something like this:

Him: Of course you’re tired, you’ve been working what, 12 hour days?

Me: No.

Him: 15?

Me: More like 16-18.

Him: I rest my case.

Early Saturday morning, we packed up the car and headed to the fair.  My space was in the back corner of the library, which really was a perfect spot for two bibliophiles with social anxiety issues.  It was SO tempting for us to start pulling books off the shelves to read, especially since we were in the Reference section, and I spied a whole shelf full of books on costuming.  I managed to grab some quick pictures of the display while there was a lull in the crowd.

That’s my wonderful, supportive husband in the last pic, wearing the Wondiosyncra-Tee I made for him (it says “Random” – his nickname).  He is such a good sport with all of this and I am very lucky to have him!

I had the “Hero” Wondiosyncra-Tee and Comic Captions Straitjacket Hoodie that I donated to the Real World Hero charity auction on display and got several compliments on them and all my items, especially my Skirt Bags and Button Rings (need to get some of those up on Etsy).  Several people took my business card and fliers, and I was asked by the organizer of another local event in late August if I’d like to participate.  Of course I said yes and she took my contact information.

Unfortunately, sales were a bust, and I didn’t even come close to making back the fees I paid to participate.  I had hoped to make at least ten times what I did and be able to get some supplies to make more of the ideas I have for my 50 New Products in 50 Days.  So I’m going to make a special deal for anyone who contributes to my IndieGoGo campaign between now and midnight Eastern tomorrow, November 6th: get an extra 50% of your contribution on your Rewondered gift certificate.  So a $5 contribution will get one item and a gift certificate for $7.50 and a $50 contribution will get a gift certificate for $235.  This is a limited time offer, because I need funds now in order to get the supplies to complete items before my next craft fair on November 10th.  And don’t forget, if I reach double my goal, ALL rewards will double!

Double My IndieGoGo Goal and I'll Double the Rewards

After we got back from the craft fair, I was so exhausted, I went straight to bed and slept until about 9pm.  I went back to bed around 11:30pm and slept in until around 9am, but spent most of Sunday feeling rather brain dead.  I tried to get items listed and blogs posted, but words were completely failing me.  So I gave up and gave myself the day (mostly) off, and worked on a few creative projects instead, again going to bed fairly early and sleeping in this morning.  Apparently I am getting much too old to pull all-nighters!

The good news is that I have most of my inventory for the next show all ready to go.  I’ll just be adding in the new stuff I’m making this week, including the new products I’m working on.  I really want to work on more non-jewelery items and some stocking stuffers and holiday-specific products.  As much as I hate seeing Christmas stuff before Thanksgiving, it’s kind of necessary for these holiday-themed craft fairs.

Now, speaking of several days hitting at once, I am woefully behind on my daily Five By Five posts.  So I’ll be playing catch up and posting Days 3, 4 and 5 later today.  I’m going to change the name to “Five X Fifty” as I think that better describes this promotion, and gives me a little more leeway than a 5pm deadline that is sometimes difficult for me to achieve, depending on what other deadlines and commitments I have for the day.  I also was planning to do Snap Barrettes for the Day 5 product, but I didn’t get a chance to make what I wanted to list, so I will have to postpone that to another day and choose a different item for Day 5.

Also, Etsy now allows listings to have variations, so rather than post five separate items that are extremely similar, I will just post one listing with at least five variations to choose from for some of my new products.  I’ll post individual pictures of each variation here on the blog, so you’ll still get at least five items, but they’ll all link back to just one listing.  Kind of like my Basically Beaded Faceted Bead Necklace where I added it to the Five By Five for each color available: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, or Rainbow.  By the way, additional colors or combinations are available as a custom order. 🙂

So, I’ll be spending today working myself out from under this pile of days.  Luckily, I am feeling much better and much more coherent today.  But now I’m hungry, so I’m going to wander off and find myself some lunch.  Look honey, I’m remembering to eat today!  😛

Five By Five: Post Back Earrings – Day 2 of 50 New Products In 50 Days

It’s Day 2 of my 50 New Products in 50 Days for ReBloPoMo+ and today’s item is Post Back Earrings.

As a Punk/Rock Fairy Princess, I have an affinity for anything with skulls, and silver is one of my favorite colors (but you might have figured that out based on the colors I chose for my business), so when I found these skull charms, I had to get them and make them into some awesome chunky post back earrings.

Yay!  Day 2 complete, and well before the 5pm deadline!  Now if I can just get all the other stuff done that I need to do to get ready for the craft fair tomorrow.  If you’re anywhere near Weare, New Hampshire and looking for some fun holiday gifts, come check out Rewondered at the John Stark Regional High School 5th Annual Arts and Crafts Market.

In other news, I’m up to $100 in contributions for my IndieGoGo campaign!  That means I’m eligible for the drawing IndieGoGo will be doing, and I could be one of five lucky campaigns to get $500 in matching funds.  Cross your fingers for me!  And don’t forget to go make your own contribution.  I’ll be sending out gift certificates to those who have contributed starting on Monday, but if you’re going to come to Weare, let me know and I’ll have it ready for you to spend at the show if you want.  If you see something in my Etsy shop that you want to claim for your free item, let me know and I’ll set it aside for you.

Also, the items for the Real World Hero auction are up!  I donated two items this year: a custom straitjacket hoodie and a custom t-shirt.  You can go over to http://www.realworldhero.com to bid, but I’ll share a few pics here too.

The Straitjacket Hoodie is black with comic book style captions like “Super!” and “Pow!!”

The t-shirt is an example of my new line of Wondiosyncra-Tees: upcycled t-shirts celebrating your wonderful characteristics.  These are made from the letters off old t-shirts and patched together to form descriptive words, and I am happy to do custom orders with any word up to 10 letters.  Look for more of these in an upcoming Five By Five.  For the Real World Hero auction, I decided to make on that says “HERO” on it.

Okay, time for me to get back to work.  Tomorrow’s Five By Five will feature Pins, but may be either very early or very late, since I’ll be preoccupied with the craft fair from at least 6am (getting ready) to 4pm (it ends at 2pm but then I have to pack up, get home, unload my car, have a drink…) or later.  I’m hoping to get it set up tonight but you might just end up getting two posts on Sunday!

Five By Five: Hair Elastics – Day 1 of 50 New Products In 50 Days

Here it is, the first Five By Five of my November Creative Commitment… and it’s after five. Oops.

To say I’ve been busy today is a wee bit of an understatement. With the first of my craft fairs coming up this Saturday, I am in frantic getting ready mode. If you happen to be near Weare, New Hampshire on Saturday, come check out the John Stark Regional High School 5th Annual Arts & Crafts Market.

And I’m absolutely thrilled to have received TWO contributions to my IndieGoGo campaign already!  I’m halfway to the $100 I need by November 10th to be eligible for the drawing of $500 in matching funds from IndieGoGo.  Don’t forget, if I am able to raise double my goal, all rewards will double, and if I get that $500 from IndieGoGo, I will count that in the total.

But enough about all that, you want to see my new hair elastics, don’t you?  I will have many, many more of these at the craft fairs, but these five are exclusive to my Etsy shop.

We’ll start with the way many people start their day… coffee!  I don’t drink coffee myself (I prefer energy drinks) but my husband can be a bit cranky without his morning coffee, so I can honestly say that I love coffee, too!  😛

Thursday Thoughts: NaNoWriMo and Creative Commitments

It’s probably not very surprising that I know a lot of creative people.  Among my friends and family are various other Etsy sellers, artists, scrapbookers, crocheters, knitters, seamstresses, quilters, woodworkers, and practitioners of just about any other craft you can think of.  Then there’s the people I met when I was a Theatre Arts major, the community theatre enthusiasts, and a plethora of actors and techies.  Most of my gaming friends are into role-playing and have developed elaborate stories for their characters.  Now add in all the writers and poets, computer programmers, graphic artists, interior designers… the list goes on.  So I really shouldn’t be shocked when I keep seeing one friend after another announce that they are participating in NaNoWriMo.

I’ve long thought about writing a book, or several.  I have characters begging me to tell their stories.  I’ve written a few scenes (this one belongs in a romance novel!) and backstories (this one is not for the faint of heart!) for some of my City of Heroes characters, and brainstormed ideas for a series based one or both of the Ashton twins, Jenny (my main character, One Hit Wonder) and Stacey.  I know I should take the “just sit down and write!” advice, but the way my writing process works, I don’t stop writing until the story is done, or at least that part of it.  And I just don’t have the time right now to spend hours, or heck, even minutes, writing anything that isn’t directly related to my business.

I am committed to three craft fairs in November, and am waiting for confirmation on a fourth one scheduled for December 1st.  November is not a month for me to write novels, or even short stories, it is a MUST MAKE ALL THE THINGS month.  I have literally thousands of items in various stages of completeness scattered all over my studio and spilling into the other rooms.  Thank goodness I have a supportive husband!

But I have been neglecting this blog, and my Etsy shop.  So I am going to make a type of writing commitment for November, and into December.  Let’s call it ReBloPoMo+ – Rewondered’s Blog Posting Month-Plus.  I am going to combine my “50 New Products In 50 Days” with my “Five by Five” blog posts.  So every day in November, and the first 20 days of December, there will be a post here and at least five new listings in my Etsy shop.  And I’m going to get my feet wet in the days leading up to November with a few themed “Five By Five” posts, starting with Halloween and gothic items.  It might be a bit late to order for Halloween, but I know there are others like me who think Halloween should be celebrated year-round, or are fans of “creepy” things, like skulls or Cthulhu.

Speaking of ordering, I am running a limited time special on two specific gift certificates.  The big deal is a Groupon-esque discount of over 76% off, where you can get $210 worth of my products (or custom orders) for only $50!  Click the picture below for details:

$210 worth of Rewondered products for only $50!

$210 worth of Rewondered products for only $50!

You can also get a half-price $20 Gift Certificate to Rewondered for $10.  Both of these offers are limited, so get them before they’re gone!  If you’re in New Hampshire, come spend your Rewondered Gift Certificate at my booth at one (or more) of the craft fairs I will be at:

I’ll have lots of items at the fairs that aren’t available online.  And with all the stuff I’ll be adding during ReBloPoMo+ (5 items x 50 days = 250 new listings!) there will be a lot more to choose from soon™.  Rewondered Gift Certificates never expire, you don’t have to use them all at once, and you can even refill them!  Get your holiday shopping done early, and let your friends pick out their favorite items, or get something custom made!

So what are you committed to this November?  Let me know in the comments below!  Are you doing NaNoWriMo?  Don’t write, but love to read?  Then check out NaNoLoMo – National Novel Loving Month.  Have a creative goal you’ve been putting off?  Maybe November is the perfect month to make it happen!  Let’s do it!

Reaggregation: A Collection of Unorganized Thoughts – Part 1: Events

  • Aggregation– collection into an unorganized whole

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and planning and brainstorming lately, and asking myself a lot of questions.  I’ve been wanting to write about some of the conclusions I’ve drawn, questions I still have, and ideas I’m working on, but have been having trouble deciding how to present them.  Did I need to write separate posts for each one?  Do a poll?  Get things more concrete before writing anything?  Ooh, and what’s this new idea over here?  Shiny!

Yeah, so I’ve been going around and around in my head lately, and nothing’s been posted here in three and a half weeks.  Wow, three and a half weeks, really?  Where did September go?  I swear it was August just a minute ago… is that a squirrel?

Oh yes, that’s right, I was organizing my thoughts.  As you can see, it’s a bit of a process.  So forgive me if I get rambly…

Events

Let’s start with events.  I really want to have a table or booth at two or three events every month.  One of the things that took up a good chunk of my September days was an SCA event, where I teamed up with a friend of mine who sells Auntie Arwen’s Spices.  This led to me thinking about other products and more period pieces I could make, but I’ll come back to that.  Let’s stay focused on events here. (I know it’s hard, but really Wondie, you can do it!)

So yes, more SCA events.  They’re fun and appeal to my theatre geek side, plus I get to dress up!  Next on the list is Birka in January.  Mostly I’ll just continue to team up with my friend for these, as it gives us both an extra hand for set-up as well as someone to talk to during the slow times.  Plus I am a total newb to the SCA and my friend grew up in it, so she can help me avoid mis-steps.

But January is a long way away, and the holiday selling season is coming up, so that means craft fairs.  Unfortunately, I can’t afford some of the fees for some of the larger shows, and many of those are juried and I don’t have photos of the new products I want to make, since they’re not made yet (remember, more on inventory later).  Also, the deadlines for many have already past, or they’re already full of jewelry artists.  Speaking of deadlines, my funds are extremely limited until about October 15th (and only a little less limited after that), so I’m juggling when I can actually apply, and the longer I wait, the greater the possibility that I won’t be able to do the show due to it already being full.  I also want to stay in New Hampshire to avoid having to deal with out-of-state vendor issues.  I’m still looking, so if you know of any that you think I might want to look in to, let me know.  For the moment, I’m seriously considering these:

  1. Hudson PumpkinFest – October 12-14 – I’d only be able to afford to do one day, likely the 14th.  My major concerns for this show is that it is outdoors, which means I would need to have some kind of tent/canopy, and the only one I currently have access to is 10×20, which means I need to pay for extra space as well as fill it with inventory.  Also, the deadline is October 1st.  So this one is looking unlikely, as I just don’t have the funds for all the extras I’d need that quickly.
  2. Windham High School Craft Fair – October 27th – This benefits the school’s drama and band programs, so I definitely want to support that.  Just need to get some pictures and I can send my application in.
  3. John Stark Arts Market – November 3rd – This is in Weare, and benefits the school’s art department.  Another one I definitely want to support, and close-by.
  4. Great Bay Charter School Holiday Craft Fair – November 10th – This in Exeter.
  5. Merrimack High School Annual Craft Fair – November 17th.
  6. Holiday Keene Craft Show – November 24th – This is a bit on the expensive side, but I can pay a deposit now and the rest later.  This one only allows 10-15 jewelery artists and requires pictures and a description of all products and equipment I’ll be using, so I need to figure out my display before I fill out the application.  This is also over the Black Friday-Cyber Monday weekend when I’ll be running specials in my Etsy shop, so inventory management is going to be tricky.
  7. 23rd Annual Beaver Meadow School PTO Gourmet Bake and Craft Fair – December 1st – That’s a mouthful, isn’t it?

I’m having trouble finding any others in December that aren’t already full.  These would keep me busy every Saturday between October 27th and December 1st, though I’m open to other ones that are closer/cheaper/better if they are available.  There’s also Sundays and possible weekday events, as well.  Of course, while I’d love to do them all, the upfront costs are a bit out of my reach right now, so I’m going to have to pick and choose.  If you’d like to help me get to more shows, consider buying a gift certificate, which could of course be used when you come to any of the shows, or order online.  Stock up now and get your Christmas shopping done early! 🙂

Home Parties

Another idea I’ve been considering is home parties.  Ages ago, I used to be a Pampered Chef Consultant, and I really enjoyed the idea of getting a chance to explain and demonstrate the products to a small group of people, and help the host or hostess earn free stuff.  Why not apply that concept to my products?  Especially as we gear up for the holidays!  Wouldn’t it be awesome to go over to your friend’s house, have some wine and munchies, and get a bunch of awesome handmade gifts for your friends and family without having to make them yourself or brave the crowds at a craft fair?  It would also be a great way to do custom order consultations, and people could bring any jewelry that needs simple repairs.  And if I did these on Saturday nights, after the craft shows, or on Sundays, everything would already be packed up in my car. 😉

I’m still working out the details, but the person hosting the party would get a percentage of the total sales as credit toward their own purchases, and additional incentives if their friends book a party of their own.  This would work out to free gifts for yourself or your family and friends, just for inviting a few friends over and giving me a space to set up a display table.  So let me know if you’re interested in hosting!  Of course, you’d need to be somewhere that won’t take me more than a couple of hours to drive to (sorry Florida friends!) but perhaps I can do an online version of this too.  Need to get more items up online first, but it bears thinking about.  I’ll get back to you on that. 🙂

So with these ideas, I could be VERY busy between now and Christmas.  And I’m going to stop here and continue collecting my unorganized thoughts in future posts.  Stay tuned for Part 2: Inventory!
