Revelry: February is Party Time!

My birthday is February 10th, so I like to do something to celebrate in my Etsy shop by offering some kind of special deal or discount.  But this year, I have an even better idea.  Let’s have a party!

I’ve been a consultant for Pampered Chef and Stampin’ Up! in my somewhat distant past, so I have some experience doing the “home party” type of thing: someone hosts the party, I come in and demonstrate my products, the guests buy, and the host gets rewarded based on those sales.  I’ve thought about doing something like this for Rewondered, bringing samples and inventory to someone’s home and basically doing a mini-craft fair for their friends.  I’m still interested in that (and if you want to host something like that, let me know) but this is going to be an online party.

Here’s how it works:

  1. If you want to be a host, email rewondered@gmail.com
  2. I will send you a personalized coupon code.  This coupon code is good for 10% off anything in my Etsy shop and expires when I get up to turn it off on March 1st.
  3. You can use the code yourself and pass it along to your friends so they can also get 10% off.  Remind them they need to use the code in order to get their discount and for you to get credit for their purchase, and they need to make their purchases in February.  The code can be used as many times as you and they want.
  4. On March 1st, I will tally up all the sales made using each coupon code (using the amount after the code is applied), then send the host a gift certificate for 10% of that total.  For example, if $100 of products were purchased using the code, the amount after the code is applied would be $90, so the host would receive a gift certificate for $9.  And yes, this works for ALL purchases using your code, even your own!

I’ll be adding new products throughout February, so if you see something you think a friend of yours would like, send them a link and include your code.  Share your code on social media and via email.  Put your code and the link to my Etsy shop on Post-It notes and stick them everywhere.  😛  However you want to promote your party is up to you.

You can sign up to host anytime between now and the end of February, but the earlier you do, the longer you have to collect orders.  Due to limits on the number of coupon codes Etsy allows me to have and my own sanity (don’t laugh, I think I have a few shreds left!) I can only allow the first 50 people who sign up to host.  So what are you waiting for?  Email me now! 😀

Oh, and if you don’t want to host and don’t know anyone who is hosting, but want that 10% off, just use the code FEBRUARY10

I’m grateful for:

  1. Finding out the check I’ll be receiving next week is actually going to be $45 more than I expected.  Not a huge amount, but every little bit helps!
  2. Knowing that my crankiness is temporary and due to being sick.  My sunny disposition will resume soon™.
  3. Working on plans and ideas for Rewondered.  I have quite a few things in the works and will start revealing them as I get a chance to get all the groundwork in place.

I’m grateful for:

  1. Not having a specific playlist in mind, since SAM decided it wanted to play things randomly again.
  2. Having an IRC channel for The Cape Radio so I can still chat with my listeners despite not being able to log in to the game.
  3. All the blankets on the bed and the space heater so I eventually warmed up.  Don’t think this flu is quite done with me yet. :/

365 Days of Gratitude: January 27th and 28th, 2013

Skipped posting a gratitude list yesterday because I wanted to get out of the house as early as possible to run errands in hopes that I’d make it home again before the storm hit.  So you get two at once again. 🙂

(If you’re not sure what this is all about, please read the first post)

I’m grateful for (January 27th):

  1. Another Sleep In Sunday AND taking an afternoon nap.  Been pushing myself rather hard as I got ready for Birka and while I’ve been feeling better, I still have a bit of that dang flu, so getting some extra rest was definitely in order.
  2. Lorne deciding to drive me to the grocery store.  Apparently my brain froze while I was unloading my car of all the Birka stuff while the temperature dropped from 20 to 18 degrees.
  3. Getting to chat with my mom and wish her a belated happy birthday.

I’m grateful for (January 28th):

  1. Having orders to send out and getting them safely in the mail.  My sales on Etsy are already nearly 10% of last year’s total there, and my sales from all venues is nearly 15% of last year’s grand total.  I am definitely on track to being more successful this year!  (For you non-math types, one month is a little over 8% of the year.)
  2. Some awesome finds at Goodwill and Savers.  I was mainly looking for items to help me organize my studio, and got a few nifty things, but I also found some patterns (including one for a Star Trek: The Next Generation uniform), beads, fabric, and a couple of hoodies so I can finish up some orders.
  3. Both Lorne and I getting home safely and without incident as we were both stuck driving home in the storm.  Took us both about twice as long as it normally would have, but always better to arrive later than not at all!

365 Days of Gratitude: January 25th and 26th, 2013

Didn’t have time to do a Gratitude List before leaving for Birka yesterday morning, so you are once again getting two days at once.

(If you’re not sure what this is all about, please read the first post)

I’m grateful for (January 25th):

  1. The Five Month Wedding Anniversary being the Chocolate/Energy Bars/Printer Ink Anniversary.  Or maybe that’s just what you buy your wife when she’s having a mild panic attack before a show.
  2. Not sliding into the guard rail or ditch when I realized there was no way I was making a 25mph turn and aborted my attempt to take the exit.  And the wide fishtailing didn’t become a full spin, and I was able to back out from the side of the road where I ended up and get back on the highway fairly easily.  Also, for the car that stopped and made sure I was able to do all that before moving on themselves.  I have no idea who was in that car, but I appreciate their concern and willingness to help if necessary.  Always nice to have reminders that there are still people who care about others in this world. 🙂
  3. Not getting a ticket when I was pulled over for going too slow.  After that scare and realizing that the roads were mostly okay but still had some really nasty patches that I didn’t want to be going too fast when I hit them, I was overly cautious.  And really, I think the police officer was more concerned that I might have been drinking than about my actual speed.

I’m grateful for (January 26th):

  1. Getting to see friends and meet new people at Birka.  Being introduced as “Random’s Wife” still amuses me greatly.
  2. The experience of being a merchant at an SCA event.  While I had helped out a friend with one before and had a table of my jewelry there, this was really my first event as a “real” merchant.  Sales weren’t as great as I had hoped, and I was rather surprised that some things I thought for sure would sell did not, but I did sell several things and made back more than I paid in, which is the mark of any successful show.  I’m already making plans for next year.  And of course I now have a ton of stuff that needs to get added to my Etsy shop!
  3. The roads were clear on the way home.

Now starts the crazy week of catching up on everything I pushed aside the last couple of weeks while I dealt with the flu and getting ready for Birka.

365 Days of Gratitude: January 24th, 2013

(If you’re not sure what this is all about, please read the first post)

I’m grateful for:

  1. A productive day where I got quite a few things done, and felt better most of the day.
  2. My husband’s sense of humor.
  3. Surprise gifts of “junk” jewelry.

Still got a ton to do before I head out to Birka this afternoon, so I’d better hop to it!

365 Days of Gratitude: January 22nd and 23rd, 2013

My days are kind of running together at the moment, so it’s not inappropriate that I’m posting two days at once here. 😛

(If you’re not sure what this is all about, please read the first post)

I’m grateful for:

  1. Having nearly 1000 items ready to go for Birka.  Mostly Simple Charm Necklaces but a few really awesome original pieces, too.
  2. My housemate supplementing my inventory with things she’s made.  It’s a win-win situation, she gets to go “shopping” through my supplies and have fun making stuff, I get to sell the completed items and will likely use the proceeds to buy groceries for the household, or more supplies for her to “shop” through.  And once I can hold a thought for more than a few minutes, she’s going to teach me Viking wire weaving.
  3. Not having to go outside in this lovely single digit weather we’ve been having.
  4. Having a rather nifty idea for a custom garb special at Birka.  Now I just have to finish up the samples to show people what they would be getting (and have something to wear myself).
  5. Having a rather nifty idea for a special for my Etsy shop in February.  I like to do something fun because it’s my birthday month, and I think this will be awesome!  More details later. 😉
  6. Leftovers.  Because when no one in the household feels like/wants to/has time for cooking, we always have plenty of options to just grab and heat up.

And now I must get back to my last minute MAKE ALL THE THINGS! 😀

365 Days of Gratitude: January 21st, 2013

(If you’re not sure what this is all about, please read the first post)

I’m grateful for:

  1. Buffalo burgers.  I didn’t think I was all that hungry, but my husband made me a half-pound buffalo burger figuring I’d eat what I could and save the rest for later.  I surprised us both by finishing it off in one sitting.  Flu brain needed protein, obviously, and it was SO yummy!
  2. Creating some new jewelry designs for Birka.  Wish I could take some pics, but I packed up the photography “studio” to give me more space.  Will get whatever doesn’t sell up in my Etsy shop next week and will likely make more, because these are pretty nifty, IMNSHO.
  3. Longer periods of feeling better before the flu kicks my ass again.

I wrote up this post this morning and then set it aside while I waited for my brain to kick in and when I had more time to sit down and write about the person I’m grateful for today.  But there are two problems: 1) flu brain is still in effect and 2) I am officially in panic mode and MUST MAKE ALL THE THINGS for Birka this weekend.  So taking the time to sit down and write is causing me undue stress.

Therefore, I’m going to hold off on the people I’m grateful for until after Birka.  Then I’ll either do a catch up post or double up on people until I get caught up again.  Not sure yet, that requires thinking and planning and that’s just not happening right now.

I will also be posting this week’s Tuesday Top Ten next week instead.  So you’ll get two of those next Tuesday.  And I’m not doing a show on The Cape Radio today.  I really need to put what concentration I have into making sure I have enough stuff to sell this weekend.  Thank you for understanding.
