Rainbow Connection Ten By Five

Okay, I admit it, I love rainbows.  Trying to choose just five of my rainbow designs to post was much too difficult, so I’m giving you ten instead.  Deal with it. 😛

Let’s get the Rainbow Connection going with the Rainbow Basically Beaded Faceted Bead Necklace from the set of seven:

I made a bunch of rainbow items for my 50 new products in 50 days, and I’ve finally got them listed in my Etsy shop, so these next few may be ones you’ve seen before.

You may need some rain to get rainbows, but you also need a bit of sunshine:

And of course, you know I have to have a necklace inspired by the song “Rainbow Connection” as sung by Kermit the Frog:

What, you didn’t see that coming when I posted the Kermit the Frog Straitjacket Hoodie? 😛

Don’t forget today is the last day you can use the coupon code RCIJ25 to get 25% off your order in my Etsy shop!  I’ll be adding a ton more stuff next month when I get back from Ohio, so lock in your sale price now by using the coupon code on a gift certificate.  Or if you just want to help by making a contribution to my gas fund, you can do so via PayPal with ChipIn.

Don’t know if I’ll get a chance to blog while I’m in Ohio, so if I don’t get to post again until August, enjoy the rest of your July!

Reorganization

Sorry folks, I’m caught up in reorganizing my studio and just didn’t have time to list the new rainbow products and finish up my colorful Five By Fives today.  You’ll just have to wait until Tuesday, when I’ll have a chance to do so.

I’ve decided to extend the  Christmas in July Sale in my Etsy shop through Tuesday, which means the coupon code will get turned off sometime Wednesday morning when I get up and start processing any orders before I get ready to leave for Ohio.  Orders placed after Tuesday, July 24th, won’t be shipped until August 1st, after I get back.  So if you’re thinking about ordering, please do so by Tuesday and use the coupon code RCIJ25 to get 25% off your order.

Remember, this code works on gift certificates too, so if you think you might want to buy something later (I still have TONS of stuff to put up) grab a gift certificate at a discounted price now!  I have $5, $25, and $100 gift certificates available, so they’d  actually cost you $3.75, $18.75, and $75, respectively.  And of course, you’ll have the full face value of the gift certificate to redeem any time you want, since they never expire.

Admittedly, I’m a little desperate for cash right now, and any orders are greatly appreciated! 🙂  So seriously, take advantage of the discount to get a gift certificate if you don’t see anything else you want, because there is definitely more coming once I get back from Ohio!

I’m taking this weekend off to spend time with Lorne and our friends, and Monday I’ll be buried in a paper for my marketing class, so it will be Tuesday before I can add any new products for you.  For now, check out the rainbow products I currently have listed in my Etsy shop:

I better get back to reorganizing my studio, since I only have about two hours to get it done!  Well, mostly done.  I know I still need some things from Ohio to get it completely organized, but this is a pretty good start.  I’ll have pictures for you when it’s all done in August. 🙂

Thanks so much, and see you Tuesday!

Purple Passion Five By Five

Okay, I admit I totally stole the idea for this title from The Cape Radio.  I’m a DJ there (on hiatus at the moment) so it’s okay, right?  Anyway, the name comes from an audio drama that we play during our EROS/SORE event around Valentine’s Day.  It’s absolutely hilarious, but you don’t have to wait until next February, you can download and listen to the segments from this nifty page The Cape Radio has set up for Purple Passion.  Don’t forget to listen to the outtakes, too!

When you’re done laughing, you can check out my newest purple items, starting with the Purple Beaded Faceted Bead Necklace from the set of seven:

And what’s more passionate than a skull with wings?  Okay, I’m stretching a bit there, but it’s a pretty cool looking necklace, if I do say so myself!

Okay, how about the butterflies that you get in your stomach when you see the one you love?  That’s passion!

And if you’re really lucky, they’ll give you a gigantic jewel…

Okay, so maybe that whole thing was a bit of a stretch.  But I am passionate about my business and my products.  I love what I do and hope to continue doing it for years to come.  You can help make that happen by buying any of the items for sale in my Etsy shop, having me make a custom order for you, and sharing my blog, Facebook page, Twitter, and Pinterest with your friends.  I appreciate all the help I can get, and thank all of you who have already done any of those.  You rock! 🙂

Before I run off to do a bunch of errands, let me link you to the rest of the purple items in my Etsy shop right now:

Now, what are YOU passionate about?

Five By Five Has Got the Blues

And so does the weather, apparently.  It’s incredibly overcast today, which gave me a bit of a slow start this morning (damn Seasonal Affective Disorder!), but I’m doing fine now.  And it’s a welcome break in the heat, with a forecasted high of only 83°F.  I also got the window air conditioning unit installed in my studio yesterday, so I’ll finally be able to work in there on these hot days!

The Blues is not a bad thing though, especially when you’re talking about music.  This is one of my favorite musical genres (yes, I like music other than hair metal and cheesy 80’s pop) and I was thrilled when, while I was living in Chicago, I got to see B.B. King at the Chicago Blues Festival and Jonny Lang at a concert.  There’s a Blues Festival this weekend near where I live, but we’re already going to be busy with the Balloon Festival.  One of the bands playing at the Blues Festival Saturday is also playing at the Balloon Festival Friday night, so maybe I’ll get a chance to hear them.

For now, I’ll just pop some songs into a playlist and groove while I present these blue items to you.  The Blue Basically Beaded Faceted Bead Necklace from the set of seven is first:

Blue Basically Beaded Faceted Bead Necklace Handmade by Rewondered

This next one is more of a turquoise blue, but that’s still blue, right?  It’s basically another variation of the Yellow and Silver Large Bead Necklace with Red and Yellow Snail Charm using different colors and bead caps.

Turquoise Blue and Copper Large Bead Necklace with Turquoise Blue and White Snail Charm Handmade by Rewondered

This snail is also available as a single charm necklace, just like the yellow and red one.

Blue pairs with gold for this next necklace featuring a five petal blue flower:

Similar to the Blue Marble Gold-Framed Star on Gold Chain Simple Charm Necklace, I also have this pear one:

Snails, flowers, and fruit… sounds like a lovely day in the garden.  But now we’re going to take a giant leap out of the garden for our next blue item…

Other blue items available in my Etsy shop:

And these ones are available in blue:

And now, I need to get busy doing my homework, instead of going to play in my newly-air-conditioned studio.  That really gives me the blues.

It’s Not Easy Being a Green Five By Five

And it’s not easy working in this heat!  I’ve been chased out of my studio once again, but I did manage to clear a path to the window, so we’ll see about getting that air conditioner installed soon.  For now, I’ll just hug the one in the bedroom and work in there, like I have been.

I think part of today’s heat is being generated by the release of Fox’s Folly, the newest hot fantasy erotica book by my friend Teresa Noelle Roberts.  I just finished reading Lion’s Pride, the first in her Duals and Donovans series (Fox’s Folly is #3, and a prequel to #2 Fox’s Den) and I highly recommend it.  I actually read it in two days, because the first day I had to put it down to get some sleep, or I would have finished it in one!  Don’t forget to leave a comment over on Teresa’s blog by July 18th for your chance to win a copy of Fox’s Folly.  It’s also being featured in The Romance Reviews Sizzling Summer Reads contest until July 21st, so go check that out to win other prizes.

I’m also going to blame some of the heat on my own foxy fiancé (see what I did there?) 🙂  Today is Lorne’s birthday, and the second one I’ve been able to celebrate with him.  We won’t be able to go up to Maine like we did last year, but we’re going to celebrate with our friends this weekend at the Hillsborough Balloon Festival.  Hot air balloons and fireworks… see, it just keeps getting hotter!

So let’s cool things down with one of the “cool” colors: green.  Starting off, of course, with the Green Basically Beaded Faceted Bead Necklace from the set of seven:

Green Basically Beaded Faceted Bead Necklace

This next one is an update of an old design.  Originally I had made it with a silver chain, because I didn’t have any copper chain at the time, but I think it looks much better with copper now.

Copper looks so good with green, and I apparently can’t resist making things in this combination.  So here’s another fun design:

In a similar vein, antique gold also looks great with green, and here’s another Basically Beaded design with a completely different look than the first one, using smaller bicone and seed beads:

I am working on this design in lots of different color combinations.  It’s just so pretty and elegant, I must have it in all the colors!

But let’s get back to the green, this time going back to the silver for accent.  And throwing in a bit of geekery:

Geek Chic Dark Green and Silver Cthulhu Necklace Handmade by Rewondered

Geek Chic Dark Green and Silver Cthulhu Necklace

So that’s five, but I couldn’t resist throwing in one more, given the title of today’s post.  How about a Straitjacket Hoodie featuring this Kermit the Frog fabric?

I also have a few other green necklaces already posted:

And these ones are available in green:

It may not be easy BEING green, but it’s not that difficult FINDING green in my Etsy shop! 😛  And don’t forget, you can get 25% off your order using the coupon code RCIJ25 until July 22nd, when Christmas In July ends!

Yellow, Is It Five By Five You’re Looking For?

Then you’ve found it!  Special thanks to Katie from Wild Birds Unlimited for her help with today’s title. 🙂

Also, thanks to everyone who voted for my Embrace Your Geekness Marvel Comics Straitjacket Hoodie in yesterday’s Etsy Contest.  I ended up in 11th place!  Not bad for my first time!  Hopefully I’ll be included in more future contests.  I have to wait three days before I’m eligible again, but I’ll keep you posted if another of my items gets picked.

I’ve had today’s yellow items up in my Etsy shop for a couple of hours already, but I got distracted by Facebook.  One of my friends posted an out of context quote from a speech made by President Obama, “You didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen,” with the response “Dear Mr. President, We DID build our businesses on our own.  Thanks for the support.  Sincerely, Small Business Owners.”  Now, I didn’t know the context of the quote, but the response is SO VERY WRONG!  Here’s what I said on my personal Facebook:

As a small business owner myself, I have to disagree with this statement. Yes, I’ve worked my ass off to get my business going but without customers, I wouldn’t have a business at all. No one gets anywhere on their own, someone helped, whether it was buying your product or service or other financial support, moral support and cheering you on reminding you that you can do it, or even telling you there’s no way it’s going to happen and you set out to prove them wrong. We have people who gave birth to us, people who raised us, people who taught us, people who led by example whether good or bad. We have people who gave us a hand or kicked us while we were down, reinforcing our will to make this happen. I can build all I want, post my products all over the internet, but unless someone buys, I don’t have a business. Someone else has to make that happen for me.

Turns out, the President was talking about roads and bridges and the infrastructure that society has built to make our economy and commerce possible.  But as another of my friends commented, “If you think you can do it completely on your own, you are welcome to go to the moon and prove it.”

Anyway, I don’t want to get into a political debate, but I do want to take a moment to thank each and every one of the people who have made this all possible for me.  It would take me all week to list each name, so this is just going to have to be a big collective THANK YOU!!! 🙂

Now, without further ado, let me present the yellow items!

Of course, we have to start things off with the Yellow Basically Beaded Faceted Bead Necklace in the set of seven:

Next, a big mushroom!

Yellow gives us a bit of an outdoors/garden/springtime theme, it seems.  So how about a daisy?

The daisy is also available as a simple charm necklace.  Similar to this, I have another with a different shade of yellow beads and an adorable yellow and red snail:

Using a different bead cap changes the whole look of the design, doesn’t it?  The snail is also available as a simple charm necklace.

And finally, let’s have some bees to go with our flower and snail.

Thank you for taking the time to check out my new products.  Thank you for taking the time to read this blog.  Thank you so much for your support and for HELPING ME BUILD MY BUSINESS.  I can’t do it without you! 🙂

Stay tuned tomorrow for the green products I’ll be posting!

P.S.  While I was posting that little “rant” on Facebook, I sold two necklaces in my Etsy Shop. 😀

Orange You Glad It’s Five By Five?

Yeah I know, lame joke.  I got a little distracted today when I found out my Embrace Your Geekness Marvel Comics Straitjacket Hoodie was featured in today’s Etsy Contest (go vote for me!) and I couldn’t come up with a better title for today’s orange-themed Five By Five.  So let’s just get on with it, shall we?

First off, the Orange Basically Beaded Faceted Bead Necklace from my set of seven:

Orange Basically Beaded Faceted Bead Necklace

Like yesterday’s roses, this Painted Wood Heart Simple Charm Necklace comes in other colors, but I only have a handful of these.  Two are orange, one is red, and one is purple.

I’ve posted this one before, but decided to wait until it was closer to autumn before posting it again.  After today’s high of 90°F, I’m really wishing it was closer to autumn, so I think posting it now is appropriate.

Autumn Leaves Fall Leaf Orange and Brown Beaded Charm Necklace

Autumn Leaves Fall Leaf Orange and Brown Beaded Charm Necklace

I really wasn’t sure how to describe this one.  It looks cool, I love the orange speckled beads and the silver wheel-like charms, but how I can describe it better than “I look cool, buy me!” I have no idea.

Orange and Black Beaded Necklace with Silver Wheel Charms

And this style is similar to the Cherry Pie Necklace I posted yesterday.  In fact, I do believe I have one of this style in every color, so you’ll be seeing more.  Don’t think I have a rainbow one though, maybe I should make one…

Orange and Copper I've Got a Tiger By the Tail Necklace

Orange and Copper I’ve Got a Tiger By the Tail Necklace

I intended to use that in my One Hit Wonder Project, which I sadly could not keep up with.  Having to update five pages on my website (which needs another rehaul, I’m afraid), put together an Etsy Treasury and list the item in my Etsy shop, plus all the research and writing required, was just a bit too much.  I need to find a better way to post them that automatically updates the archives and coming soon pages.  Perhaps I can scale things back a bit and start posting one a week.  After the wedding, of course!

But before I run off to tackle my Massive To Do List™ again, let me give you some quick reminders:

Red Hot Five By Five

I asked for suggestions for today’s Five By Five theme last night via Twitter and my friend Teresa Noelle Roberts suggested Red Hot to match today’s weather.  Considering it’s still 91°F outside here, I’d say that’s pretty close.  I worked up quite a sweat taking the pictures in my studio for today’s listings!

Speaking of Red Hot, that also describes Teresa’s books!  And her newest, Fox’s Folly, comes out on Tuesday!  Leave a comment on her blog by July 18th and you could win a free copy!

/end shameless plug 😀

So anyway, I was looking through my stash of completed products I still need to list, thinking maybe something with suns or drinks or flames, and trying to get ideas for the next few days of Five By Five posts, when it hit me.  Red.  Red is the first color of the rainbow, and I’d been working on putting up a set of necklaces for each color of the rainbow.  And I’m also offering those necklaces individually, so why not feature one color a day for the next six days, and follow up day seven with rainbows?  Excellent plan, if I do say so myself!

We’ll start of each of these days with the corresponding necklace from the set, so here’s the red one:

Red Faceted Beads with Silver Accents Basically Beaded Necklace

Red Faceted Beads with Silver Accents Basically Beaded Necklace

I know, it’s kind of cheating a little, since the post is already up, but since I can only do five pictures for each listing in my Etsy shop, this gives you a chance to see each necklace individually.

I could also cheat and do this one every day, since I have it in all the colors of the rainbow, plus more, but I’ll only post it for today since I’m using the red one as the example.

I could have posted this one yesterday for Embrace Your Geekness Day because it reminds me of Mario Brothers:

Red and White Mushroom Necklace D225N-00186

This is one of my favorite new products I made for my goal of 50 new products over the 50 days I ran my IndieGoGo campaign.  Finally got it listed for sale!

Rock N Roll Music Red, Black, Grey and Silver Charm Bracelet D225B-00012

Rock N Roll Music Red, Black, Grey and Silver Charm Bracelet D225B-00012

And last but not least, a necklace inspired by one of my favorite songs, Cherry Pie by Warrant.

Red and Copper Cherry Pie Necklace with Silver Slice of Pie on Plate with Knife and Fork D225N-00376

Red and Copper Cherry Pie Necklace with Silver Slice of Pie on Plate with Knife and Fork D225N-00376

Love those plump cherry red beads wrapped in a copper filigree crust!  Hmmm, I’m kind of hungry now.

These items mark a new milestone for me: 100 listings in my Etsy shop!  And I’ll be adding at least 30 more in the next week.  And that makes hardly a dent in what I have available, so 200 listings isn’t too far off.  My goal is to do a Five By Five at least 20 times a month, so that’s 100 new listings each month.  Gonna be busy, but it keeps me (mostly) out of trouble!

So what themes would you like me to do after I’m done with the rainbow?  More colors?  Animals?  Specific types of products?  Inspired by songs?  More geekery?  Leave a comment with your ideas!

Five By Five Remarking Embrace Your Geekness Day

Remark (verb)

  • to say casually, as in making a comment
  • to note; perceive; observe

Today I am commenting on and observing Embrace Your Geekness Day.  Of course, I embrace my geekness every day of the year, but I guess July 13th is a day to especially geek out.  So how about some products to really show off your geekness and let that geek flag fly?

I’ll start things off with one of my most popular geeky designs, a Mini Cthulhu Necklace:

Mini Cthulhu Octopus Charm and Beaded Necklace - Your Choice of Colors - D225N-00823

Mini Cthulhu Octopus Charm and Beaded Necklace – Your Choice of Colors – D225N-00823

It currently is available in red, blue, and pink, but I can really make it in any color I can find the right beads for, so you can get one in your favorite color!  Just set it up through a custom order of this design style.

Another one of my most popular geeky designs is my Steampunk Style Silver Gears and Wrenches Robot Clockwork Necklace so I decided to offer earrings to match:

Steampunk Style Silver Gears and Wrenches Robot Clockwork Earrings D225E-00001

Steampunk Style Silver Gears and Wrenches Robot Clockwork Earrings D225E-00001

I also have a lot of necklace designs that would look great with a steampunk dress, such as Purple and Copper Locks, Metallic Blue and Copper Stars, Cream and Brown with Copper Flowers, Large Apple Green Beads with Copper Bead Caps, Turquoise and Copper, Upcycled Distressed Pearls and Copper, Clear and Copper Swan, and Green and Copper Stars.  Plus many more I’ll be adding soon™!

One of the things many geeks are into, myself included, is tabletop role-playing games, like Dungeons and Dragons.  So of course I had to put up a dragon necklace!

Large Silver Dragon Simple Charm Necklace on Silver Chain D225N-00904

Large Silver Dragon Simple Charm Necklace on Silver Chain D225N-00904

There’s also a gold dragon necklace design already up in the shop, and I wear my Blue Eyes and Silver Bow and Arrow necklace when I play my archer character in Earthdawn.  What kind of custom necklace could I make for your character?

If you’re going to play a tabletop RPG, you’re going to need dice.  And if you’re like me, those dice are going to go flying!  And thus the inspiration for this piece:

Rainbow Flying Dice Beaded Charm Bracelet for Gamer Girls D225B-00001

Rainbow Flying Dice Beaded Charm Bracelet for Gamer Girls D225B-00001

I have dice necklaces as well, in your choice of colors, rainbow, black and white, and red mini dice.  So far I’ve only been able to find six-sided dice beads, but if I ever find polyhedral dice beads, I’m buying them in bulk!  I’ll probably just have to buy polyhedral dice and drill holes in them.

And now, what better way to “embrace” your geekness than with a Straitjacket Hoodie?  😛

Embrace Your Geekness Marvel Comics Straitjacket Hoodie - Made to Order

Embrace Your Geekness Marvel Comics Straitjacket Hoodie – Made to Order

Another of my geeky loves is comic books and superheroes, so I snatched up this fabric to use for a Straitjacket Hoodie.  I have several other geeky fabrics that I could use to customize a straitjacket hoodie for you, such as white dragons on black, black dragons on grey, sock monkeys, skeleton keys, love tattoo hearts, Kermit the frog, and even rainbows and unicorns.  And I’m happy to go looking for just the right fabric if I don’t have it already in stock.

I have a lot more geeky items to list, but here’s a few more that are already in my Etsy shop, so go check them out:

Okay, I think I’ve completely embraced my geekness over geeky designs today, don’t you?  And don’t forget, you can get 25% off your order using the coupon code RCIJ25 when you check out of my Etsy shop!

Now, maybe I should take a break and go play some Diablo 3…
